What is your philosophy of care at Village Glen?

Our philosophy is to provide quality care that enhances every residents life, respects their individuality and encourages their independence in an environment that is supportive and homelike.  We are successful because we continually listen and learn from our residents and their families.  We follow the highest level of conducting care for our residents.

How is Village Glen different from standard assisted living care?

Village Glen is different from standard assisted living care in a number of ways.  First, Village Glen is uniquely designed to meet the needs of those with Alzheimer’s and other memory impairments.  Interior walkways, activity centers, an interior courtyard and bright and cheery sunroom are all designed to provide a homelike supportive environment for our residents.  Second, many of our staff are trained in dementia care and attend periodic in-service training so as to provide the best possible care for the residents.  Finally, we try to act as a resource for the community staying abreast of the most recent advances in Alzheimer’s care.

We perform an assessment of interested residents to insure there is a good match between our services and the needs of the resident.  This assessment process allows us to get to know the resident and is essential to our philosophy of care.  Make an appointment with our Marketing Director to learn more about us.  She will be able to answer many of your personal detailed questions.

Are short term “respite” stays available at Village Glen?

Yes!  Families look for respite care for a number of reasons including rehabilitation from illness, family caregiver vacations, or just to allow a resident to get a feel for life at Village Glen.  Respite rooms are furnished for the resident’s convenience.  Call for more information about our “Respite Program.”

We have a full-time Activity Coordinator at Village Glen and Arbor Village.  Our activity program focuses on lifestyle and incorporates resident preferences.  Village Glen's unique design includes seven activity centers that create scenarios that stimulate resident’s senses.  Activities each day help to stimulate and promote socialization, exercise and spirituality.

What special training does staff receive?

Many of our care staff at Village Glen receive specialized training in dementia care through our Village Program.  Training is continually provided to staff so best care practices can be achieved.

Our experience shows residents transition better in their new home when they have familiar furnishings around them.  For this reason, residents and their families furnish their own private studio apartment so as to personalize their new home and create a surrounding they are most familiar with.
